Poll results: Is speeding an issue on the Sydenham River?

It was nearly a flip of a coin to determine whether speeding is an issue on the Sydenham River.

Our latest poll question did generate some chatter:

“I find that every year you can tell the new boaters who run 1/4 to 1/2 throttle throwing a large wake not even realizing the damage they cause to the boats tied up along the shoreline. Many times you signal them to slow down only to get a dumb look or the bird. The small aluminum boats throw very little wake wide open, jet skis the same but when going slow large wake is produced. The majority of boaters are responsible but the cowboys and the so called elite people of Wallaceburg with their old boats well anyone living along the river knows who I am talking about need to show respect for the smaller people in town,” Peter said on the Sydenham Current.

“Sometimes the wake the boat leaves is more a problem then the speed! Boaters need to look behind them too to see what damage they are causing,” Jim said on the Sydenham Current.

“Huge issue!!! No one ever goes the speed limit! As soon as people hit the forks they think they can fly. A lot of boaters have no respect for others property!! If the cops where smart they would sit at the forks or at my dock and they would definitely get their quota,” Crystal said on Facebook.

“Go slow by boats that are docked and in town from the forks to the Bay, speed limit is brutal,” said Tyson on Facebook.
