Food policy council is looking for members

Are you someone who has a passion for food and where it comes from?

Do you want to work with other individuals and community groups to develop policies and provide recommendations on food strategies and food system changes for Chatham-Kent?

Would you like to be a part of the Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council?

The Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council is an official group/entity under the Board of Health for the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit. It was created to encourage and facilitate dialogue and collaboration among food related organizations, agencies, services, food producers and distributors, consumers, business, and government within Chatham-Kent.

The Food Policy Council also works to develop strategies for the promotion and facilitation of the vision and bring it to action.

Applications should be submitted to Lyndsay Davidson at Chatham-Kent Public Health, 435 Grand Ave W. or sent via email to lyndsayd@chatham-kent.ca by Friday July 24th, 2014.

Members must live or work in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The Council membership shall be representative of the key interests and sectors of the Chatham-Kent food system.

We are currently recruiting for 7 positions:

  • Health Care Sector (1 member)
  • Food Distribution (1 member)
  • Restaurant (1 member)
  • Agriculture (1 member)
  • Economic Development/Chamber of Commerce/BIA/Tourism (1 member)
  • Institutional Purchasing (1 member)
  • General Community (1 member)
