Sydenham pool receives accessibility funding

Wallaceburg’s indoor pool is set to receive some Federal funds to improve its accessibility.

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Bev Shipley announced in a press release today that four organizations in the riding were approved for projects under the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF).

The municipality of Chatham-Kent was one of the recipients, with the funds earmarked to renovate the Sydenham District Pool washroom to make it accessible.

The EAF works to enable Canadians with disabilities to participate in their community and the economy.

In total, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex will receive just over $180,000 for EAF projects.

Since its creation in 2007, the program has funded over 1,400 projects across the country and has improved accessibility for thousands of Canadians.

Wallaceburg’s pool had its roof and HVAC system replaced last summer, which was a recommendation from the municipal service review from a couple years ago.
