A resident of Ridgetown, Richard Bruce Murray passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Chatham‑Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, on Monday November 16, 2015 at the age of 55.
Born in Emo, Ontario, son Betty (Brennan) Murray and the late Bruce Murray. Beloved husband of 31 years to Phoebe (nee Nixon). Loving father of Brian Murray of Ridgetown, Cara Murray (fiancé David Moura) of Cambridge and Erin Murray of Ridgetown. Dear brother to Cathy Roberts of Ridgetown, Judith Miller (Warren) of Thamesville, Patricia Murray of Ridgetown, Laurie Jefferson (Chuck) of Chatham and Bill Murray and Tom Murray both of Toronto; Laverne Bombay of Dinorwic, Ontario and Leonard Critchley of Cambridge. Brother‑in‑law to Jerome Cohen of Amherstburg. Predeceased by his sister Shaughnessy Cohen, brothers Ernest and Maurice and his birth mother Mary Bombay. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Richard was a pharmacist for 30 years. He started Ridge Apothecary and built it into a successful business. He was an original member of the Howard Mutual Foundation, a member and trustee of the Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club and active in the Ridgetown Rotary Club for many years.
Friends were received at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday November 20, 2015 from 2:00‑4:00 p.m and 7:00‑9:00pm. The Funeral Service was conducted at the McKinlay Funeral Home on Saturday November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
Cremation to follow with Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown at a later date. Donations made in memory of Richard to Westover Treatment Centre, Thamesville or to Head and Neck Cancer Research at LHSC would be appreciated.
