Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning in Chatham-Kent, Sarnia and Lambton County.

Officials say rain, heavy at times, is expected.

“The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall,” Environment Canada officials stated. “Rain is forecast to spread into the regions this evening. The rainfall will be heavy at times, mainly through the overnight hours, and may be accompanied by a thunderstorm or two.”

Total rainfall amounts up to 30 mm are likely by the time the rain tapers off on Wednesday morning.

“Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” Environment Canada officials stated.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
