Ronald Aarssen, a resident of Port Lambton, died peacefully in Chatham with his family by his side on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the age of 77.
Ron is the son of the late Arthur & Bertha (Seys) Aarssen. Beloved husband of Mary Catherine (Coveny). Loving father & father-in-law of Deb & Wayne Fraser, John & Stacy Aarssen and Anita & Mike Robertson. Dear grandfather of Zach Fraser, Chantel, Taryn & Meghan Aarssen and Shayna and Jenna Robertson. Brother of Mike Aarssen (Linda), Mary Susan Bechard (Alfred), Jim Aarssen, Chris Aarssen, Cindy Nottley (Paul), Carol Dauw (Dave) and the late Richard Aarssen (Margaret) and Marjorie Dupon (Bob).
Ron began his career in Tool & Die with 17 years at Vannatter’s before venturing into business with partner Otto Kjeldsen to create Aarkel Tool and Die in 1977. When Ron retired in 2003, he continued to lead a very active life boating, fishing, snowmobiling, travelling and designing, building and flying remote control planes as a member of the St. Clair Cloud Dancers model aeronautics club.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday. Parish prayers at the funeral home 3:30 Wednesday.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton on Thursday, March 10 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Sombra. If desired, remembrances to Right to Life Chatham-Kent, Diabetes or the Holy Family Roof Fund may be left at the funeral home. 519.627.3231.
