Javier Avina of Walpole Island First Nation

Javier-Avina-1460035443-1Javier Guadalupe Avina, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, died suddenly in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the age of 10.

Javier is the beloved son of Hugo Avina Nunez and Melodie Dawn (Peters) Avina. Cherished brother of Floritia, Hugo Jr. and Armando Avina. Loved grandson of Manuela Nunez and the late Jose Guadolupe Avina and Clyde & Caroline Peters. He will be dearly missed by his many aunts and uncles from Walpole and Mexico and his many friends. Javier was about Faith, Family, Music and friends. A 5th grade student at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School in Wallaceburg, he had a strong faith in God and loved his teachers, school, fishing and Gospel music, playing the violin, drums and tambourine.

Despite his asthma, he was a great athlete who excelled in sports. He was a great kid.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Friday. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Saturday, April 9 at 2 PM.

Interment to follow at Highbanks Cemetery, Walpole Island, with a reception to follow at the Walpole Island Sports Complex.
