Update: $100,000 damage after Wallaceburg blaze

The investigation is on-going after a fire early this morning on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 840 Murray Street at 3:25 a.m.

“The fire was reported by a passerby who then called 911,” stated Bob Davidson, assistant chief.

“Firefighters quickly responded to the incident and upon arrival observed a significant working fire with extension into the attic in one of two residential buildings located on the property. Occupants of the residence had exited the building and there were no injuries.”

Davidson said approximately $100,000 damage was caused as a result of the fire.

About $75,000 worth of property was saved.

“The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by CKFES,” Davidson said.

Firefighters from Station #3 Wallaceburg, Station #2 Chatham and Station #5 Tupperville all responded to the blaze.
