For many years, the Rotary Club of Wallaceburg has donated two bursaries to top students at Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
The awards had been given to the top male and female music students to help them in their education and to promote the musical arts in Wallaceburg.
Since the Wallaceburg District Secondary School no longer has a music program, we have decided to award these bursaries to the two top students for academic excellence to help them further their education.
This year’s recipients of the Rotary Club of Wallaceburg Academic Excellence Awards are Hugo Avina and Jocelyn Blackbird.
The awards were announced and presented at the WDSS Commencement program on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
The photograph shows Director Michael Zell, award recipient Jocelyn Blackbird and President Sussan Londry. Mr. Hugo Avina was unable to attend, and will receive his bursary as soon as possible.
