The roads in St. Clair Township has been re-opened, following a massive fire at a power plant across the river.
Lambton OPP officials say on Thursday August 11th, 2016 the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed roads in the area of St. Clair Township, Lambton County as a result of an on-going DTE Hydro Plant fire in Marysville, Michigan.
Significant fire resources responded to the scene of a commercial structure fire at the DTE Hydro Plant in Marysville, Michigan.
As a result of this structure fire, heavy smoke travelled in an easterly direction, across the St. Clair River and into St. Clair Township. In response to this, St. Clair Parkway between Oil Springs Line and Stanley Line as well as Bentpath Line between 40 Highway and St. Clair Parkway was closed and members of the public were asked to avoid the area.
The Ministry of Environment (MOE) dispatched an Air Monitoring Team to the area to measure air quality in the area and no evacuation was required at the time.
Emergency crews remain at the site and will remain on scene for several days.
Just before 9:00 a.m. August 12, 2016, all roads were re-opened.
No hazards have detected by MOE air monitoring teams.
No medical concerns were reported to police as a result of this incident.
