Custom signs make great gifts

Home and Cottage Interiors is now offering custom decorative signs for your home.

Besides traditional wooden signs, they can make unique signs using old wooden windows.

“We use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to custom paint the frame in the customer’s preference and design their unique message in vinyl,” said store manager and Annie Sloan Stockist, Diane Galvin.

“We have a very large inventory of old windows in stock, but customers can also bring in their own windows.”

Last week, a customer brought in five windows from her grandparent’s farmhouse that was recently torn down.

Home and Cottage Interiors will be turning them into custom signs for her and each of her siblings.

“I just think that this makes such a great keepsake for the family,” said Galvin.

“We can do the same thing with old picture frames. We can use the existing glass for the sign or insert wood for the sign background, or even turn it into a mirror.”

Leslie Morgan Interiors also offers Custom Sign Workshops for private parties.

The workshops typically take about two hours and can be scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings.

“We just require a minimum of four participants to book a private party, but we can accommodate up to 12 people.”

Private parties must be booked in advance with a 50% deposit to secure your date.

“The deposit is nonrefundable, but if you let us know in advance, we can reschedule your booking to accommodate your participants.”

Galvin told the Sydenham Current that the private parties have been very popular with Bridal parties and ‘girls nights out’.

Whether you’re looking for a custom sign or just want to purchase decorative signs, Leslie Morgan Interiors has several in stock to choose from.

They also carry several other decorator accents including candle sticks, wall art, decorative pillows, wine glasses, scented wax burners, as well as seasonal décor.

“Our storage area is bursting at the seams with Christmas Décor right now,” Galvin said with a laugh.

“We are planning to convert our paint studio to retail space to accommodate all the great Christmas Décor!”

If you haven’t visited Wallaceburg’s newest Home Décor shop, put it on your radar.

Leslie Morgan Interiors is located just west of town at 1964 Dufferin Ave. They are open Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We are closed on Sunday and Monday, but if I’m here painting something for a customer, I open the store,” Galvin says.

She also encourages customers to call her during the day if you want to stop by, but can’t get there before 5 pm.

“I wait for customers all the time, and am often here until 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. If you are coming from out of town and are making a special trip to pick up Annie Sloan paint, call first to reserve your colours. We get a paint order every three weeks, but sometimes we run out of a particular colour. Not often, but it does happen.”
