The annual Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Drive began this morning with a flag-raising at the Civic Centre in Chatham.
Chatham Counc. Doug Sulman and Legion Zone Commander Irene Williams were joined by municipal staff and Legion members from across the area.
Hundreds of donation boxes will be located across the community.
Funds raised from the effort are used to help Canada’s veterans.
Sulman said the campaign is another example of how the Legion plays a key role in the community and across the nation in recognizing the sacrifices made by Canadian veterans to preserve our freedom and way of life.
