St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Wallaceburg will receive a $2,900 grant through the Best Buy School Tech Grant Program.

The funds will be used to purchase robotics equipment for the schoolā€™s new First Lego League Robotics extra curricular program.

ā€œWe are extremely grateful to Best Buy Canada for this generous donation,ā€ says Liz Gibson, Principal of St. Elizabeth Catholic School. ā€œThe money will help us to establish a brand new extra-curricular program at our school for students who have a tremendous interest in science and technology.ā€

ā€œThe passion of the St. Elizabeth Catholic School staff was evident in their grant application, as they outlined how additional technology would provide their students with unique learning experiences,ā€ says Damian Anderson, General Manager of the Chatham Best Buy location.

ā€œBest Buy Canada is committed to making a positive impact in the community with programs and partnerships that support youth and connect them with technology, in ways which advance their education.ā€

Aar-Kel Industries, a well-known Wallaceburg tool and die shop, has also donated $1,000, which will also be used to support the new extra-curricular program.

Through the First Lego Robotics League, St. Elizabeth Catholic School students will compete against students from other schools across Canada. The first competitions in southwestern Ontario will be held in December.
