Jr. Tartans win in high school football

The Wallaceburg Tartans Jr. Football team will finish the regular season undefeated, after a 25-9 win over the Lambton Central Lancers on Tuesday.

Brodie Genyn, Nic Podlacha and Dylan Hiltz each scored touchdowns for Wallaceburg, while kicker Dylan Denys had a field goal, three extra points and a rouge.

The Tartans finished the regular season in first place, and own a 6-0 record.

They will host the McGregor Panthers (0-6) in the LKSSAA 12-Man ‘AA’ junior football semifinal on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Blenheim will host Lambton Central in the other semi-final.

Cardinals blanked in junior boys volleyball

The Lambton-Kent Cardinals were shut out on Tuesday in ‘A/AA ‘ junior boys volleyball, here are the results:

– Pain Court 2, Lambton-Kent 0

– Ridgetown 2, Lambton-Kent 0

– NLSS 2, Lambton-Kent 0

Tartans fall to Northern

Sarnia Norhtern topped the Wallaceburg Tartans ‘AA/AAA’ junior girls basketball action on Tuesday, by a score of 48-14.

Megaan Zelina scored 5 points to lead the Tartans.

Panther tops Cards in senior girls hoops

The McGregor Panthers topped the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in ‘A/AA’ senior girls basketball action.

Allie Sanderson led all scorers with 11 points, in a losing effort.

Seth scratched

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith was a healthy scratch for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, when they hosted the Edmonton Oilers.

Toronto ended up winning the game 3-2 in OT.

Before the game, Toronto re-called Nikita Soshnikov from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Soshnikov was inserted into the lineup on the fourth line, where Griffith had skated for the last three games.

In those three contests, Griffith recorded no points and had an even +/-.

Toronto will travel down the QEW to face Buffalo on Thursday.
