Unprovoked attack in Sarnia

Police are looking for a suspect after an unprovoked attack on a woman in Sarnia.

Police officials say on December 18, sometime between 1:45 a.m. and 2:15 a.m., a 19-year-old female was walking westbound on Devine Street in the City of Sarnia.

As the young lady attended the area of Devine Street and Russell Street in front of Tecumseh Park she observed a male coming towards her from the park.

The male began to follow her as she continued westbound along the sidewalk.

The male then chased the young lady to the area of Harkness and Devine Street.

At this time the suspect tripped the young lady and knocked her to the ground.

After a brief struggle she was able to get away and ran home.

She described the suspect as being approximately 5 foot, 8 inches, heavy set (over 300 pounds), white, wearing dark cargo pants, a black ski mask with holes for eyes and mouth and a red tag on the forehead approximately ¾” in length by ½” in height.

The suspect was wearing a blue and grey winter jacket, described as being blue on the body of the jacket and on top of the sleeves, and grey on the sides and undersides of the arm.

The suspect had a mole on his upper right lip that covered part of his lip and part of the area above the lip.

The male had a deep voice and appeared to be older.

At this time the Sarnia Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance to help identify this suspect.
