A special weather statement remains in effect across Chatham-Kent, as snow and poor travel conditions are expected into Tuesday.
Environment Canada officials say northerly snowsqualls off Lake Huron are expected late Tuesday and Tuesday night.
“Snow will continue into Tuesday. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected into Tuesday morning,” Environment Canada officials say.
“On Tuesday afternoon, the snow is expected to become more localized, however north to south snow squalls will likely develop over Lake Huron and affect the Sarnia area as well as portions of Essex and Kent. These areas could see an additional 10 cm or more late Tuesday and Tuesday evening.”
Gusty northeast to northerly winds will produce local blowing snow this afternoon through Tuesday.
Poor travel conditions are expected into Tuesday morning.
“Conditions will improve somewhat over many areas Tuesday afternoon, however they will further deteriorate locally as snow squalls move into portions of Lambton, Essex, and Kent off of Lake Huron. The squalls will likely continue Tuesday night then end Wednesday morning.:
Snow squall watches and warnings will likely be issued for areas south of Lake Huron on Tuesday, Environment Canada officials say.
