The 24th annual Tartan Tinman Triathlon will be held at Wallaceburg District Secondary School on Tuesday, May 30.

The event features over 150 entrants participating each year and involves three parts equal in distance to a ‘try-a- tri’ found elsewhere in the province. The swim is indoors and is 16 lengths (8 laps) of the pool. The second part is a 16.8 km bike and finally a 3.8 km run.

“It is a little later this year in order to avoid conflict with soccer and track,” said Nancy Schinkelshoek, teacher at WDSS and the event organizer.

“You may swim, bike and run as an individual or make it a team effort. Of course, staff are also encouraged to participate. We will be closing roads along the route that day.”

Due to interest over the past few years, categories have been created specifically for WDSS alumni and community members.

Those interested may participate as individuals or as part of a unisex or co-ed team.

The entry fee required for individuals is $15 and for all teams is $25.

The top three entries in each division will receive a Tinman t-shirt.

A free healthy lunch and award ceremony will follow the race in the cafeteria at WDSS.
