Graffiti poll, mixed marijuana reviews, Education Week

Stopping vandalism

The headlines in the Sydenham Current were occupied on Tuesday by news about some obscene and vulgar graffiti, which popped up in a number of places in Wallaceburg this week.

One of the most prominent places where the tagging occurred was at Colwell Park, the home of some brand new playground equipment and the future site of the Wallaceburg Splash Pad. Other areas damaged were the walking bridge, some other southside buildings, the former D.A. Gordon Public School and Wallaceburg District Secondary School.

Other spots in town have been targeted continuously in the past as well.

Here is our coverage from yesterday:

Anyone I spoke with about the situation on Tuesday were upset, disappointed and angry about this latest wave of vandalism. It also didn’t surprise me to see people step up to the plate (Nick Cadotte, Greg Gielen) to help out. Others contacted us on Tuesday morning concerned about the situation, and offering to help as well.

While the comments were flying about the issue, some recurring potential solutions kept coming up as well. We’ve gathered a few of them together in our latest poll questions. Please vote below, or offer some feedback by commenting on the story or on the Facebook page.
