Trucker charged after hitting sign on the 401

A trucker from Quebec is facing charges following a crash on the 401.

Chatham-Kent OPP officials say on May 10, around 7 a.m., officers responded to a commercial motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Drake Side Road.

Police allege that the investigation revealed a westbound tractor trailer had lost control, hit a road sign and came to rest in the north ditch.

The driver was not injured.

As a result, the male driver, a 53-year-old from LaSalle, Quebec has been charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Highway 401 between Bloomfield Road and Queens Line was closed for one hour to allow for the vehicle to be removed from the ditch.
