Shopper’s Drug Mart in Wallaceburg was one of three drop-off locations on Saturday, May 13, for the annual Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day.

The other two locations were in Chatham and Tilbury.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service, C-K Crime Stoppers, East Side Pride, C-K Drug Awareness Committee and Tilbury Drug Awareness Committee all worked together and collected 1,200 narcotic pills this year.

That’s 382 more than last year.

The weight of the non-narcotics also rose by 30.97kgs.

Police officials say they also received two Opioid patches, liquid Hydrocodone and liquid Codeine.

Since the beginning of this event in 2013, the Chatham-Kent Police Service has received 7270.5 narcotic pills and 192.419 Kgs of non-narcotic prescription drugs.
