The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 18 in Wallaceburg is holding a fundraising dinner for a local woman in need.

Julie Rice, who is hoping to have a double lung transplant sometime this year, will benefit from a Saturday, June 10 dinner at the 52 Margaret Ave. establishment.

The meal will feature broasted chicken from The Car Barn in Wheatley and it will run from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Mike Hindmarsh, an executive member with the Legion, said he is hoping for a great turnout.

“I would hope to see 300 people come out,” he said.

“This is a strong community for helping people that need help.”

Tickets are $15 per person and can be picked up at the Legion bar or calling 519-627-6663, from Maryanne Holland at K9 Klips or by calling 519-627-9855, or by calling Melissa Parks at 519-627-8932.

Rice, who also battles cystic fibrosis, told the Sydenham Current she recently had all of her tests and requirements updated and she is hopeful to be added to the transplant list at any time.`
