Ontario’s highest per-capita death rate from heart attacks

As reported by the Chatham-Kent Stroke Centre, Stats Canada figures state that the community of Chatham-Kent has the highest death rate from heart attacks per capita in Ontario, second highest in Canada.

Officials with the local chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation say to support research, the prevention of heart disease and stroke and the local Stroke Centre, the Heart & Stroke Foundation is kicking off a donation campaign to raise funds this June.

“This campaign is a call to action to all community members to decrease the impacts of heart disease and stroke in Chatham-Kent,” local Heart and Stroke Foundation officials said in a press release.

The Heart and Stroke June donation campaign will make a significant contribution to the National Heart and Stroke canvass which generates in upwards of $10 million towards life-saving research.
