Paramedic services week being celebrated in C-K

(Chatham-Kent EMS)

Chatham-Kent would like to recognize the great work of the Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (CKEMS) paramedics all the time, but especially during paramedic services week May 29 through June 4.

Part of recognizing all that our paramedics do, is understanding what they do.

Chatham-Kent officials say they want to invite the community to learn about paramedics and what they do with our paramedic services week activities.

Meet Paramedics, see a simulation, and learn CPR/AED at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre Lobby:

– Monday, May 29, 2017 – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

– Wednesday May 31, 2017 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In the modern era of health care there are specialists tasked with caring for our citizens in the most austere of places and circumstances.

They come to your home, work site, back roads and major highways putting their own selves at risk while providing medical care and treatment at these locations.

There is no sterile environment, no medical backup teams, poor lighting, heat and cold, and they are tasked with your care outside of the hospital.

This mobile health care system has a history developed from the fields of the world wars and improved through to today’s model that many people rely upon knowing that a phone call will bring assistance.

Even more so, now paramedics are becoming integral in assisting and supporting the primary health care teams in the community through Community Paramedicine.
