A meeting took place this week between Chatham-Kent officials and representatives of the provincial Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Stemming from the meeting, Municipal officials say immediate action regarding concerns about water well quality near the North Kent One water project will take place.
MOECC staff will be reconnecting with owners of wells which have experienced issues and reviewing those concerns with Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy, developers of the project, Municipal officials say.
Wallaceburg Coun. Jeff Wesley said the meeting provided the municipality with information on ministry procedures.
“Ministry officials were open to the fact that there needs to be better communication,” he said in a press release.
“They took our concerns very seriously and committed to working to deal with the issues.”

Chatham-Kent staff and councillors met with regional MOECC officials as the result of the resolution Monday asking the provincial government to halt wind turbine construction in the municipality until the issue of water well quality is fully investigated.
That request is still before the premier’s office.
