IPM volunteer opportunities available
With the 2018 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM 2018) scheduled for September 18-22, 2018, in the Chatham-Kent community of Pain Court, organizers are calling for citizens to join in hosting this historic high profile event.
In order to include volunteers from every community, volunteer sign-up opportunities have been scheduled in public libraries at eleven locations across Chatham-Kent. Before signing up, volunteers are asked to visit the IPM 2018 website and Facebook pages to find out more about the exciting and rewarding opportunities available.
Visit www.plowingmatch.org/ipm2018 and www.facebook.com/ipm2018.
Approximately 1,500 volunteers or more will be needed to put on the event, which is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors to plowing competitions and farm exhibits of all kinds. Volunteers are needed with a variety of skill sets, including horse and tractor management, health and safety, site and exhibit set-up, education booths, gates and tickets, special events and more.
“This will truly be a major historic attraction for Chatham-Kent,” says IPM 2018 Co-chair Darrin Canniff.
“And, appropriately, it will be hosted by the volunteers of our community.”
“It will showcase Chatham-Kent and our farm community to the world,” added co-chair Leon Leclair.
“We will be talking about this event for many, many years to come.”
Once you have decided on your interests, visit a volunteer sign-up opportunity in the Chatham-Kent public library nearest you. Computers and assistance in signing up are available at each library. Dates may be subject to change due to weather or unforeseen consequences.
