The Wallaceburg & District Council For The Arts are bringing back the Outdoor Summer Concert Series.
Live and local music will once again be enjoyed in Library Park on Tuesday nights throughout the summer months.
“The support and attendance the series attracted in our first year was unbelievable,” said Arts Council President Dave Elliott.
“To keep the series running was a no brainer. We hope to continue to grow the series, to cultivate a passion for music and the arts locally and to be a part of a long standing tradition in Wallaceburg for years down the road.”
The Co-Operators are once again backing the series as the title sponsor, with a $2,500 donation to the Arts Council.
The Council was also awarded a $5,000 grant through the Municipality’s Community Partnership Fund, recently approved by Chatham-Kent Council.
“We can’t thank The Co-Operators enough for their continued support,” added Elliott.
“The local institutions and businesses who support these initiatives and supply grant dollars are what keep groups like ours operational. Without these programs and donations, a lot of what the Arts Council does, simply doesn’t happen.”
The outdoor series will once again be FREE admission and open to the public, planned for Tuesday nights through the summer months from June 12 to August 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Those attending will be asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket. On site barbecues, draws and giveaways are expected to be a part of the weekly festivities.
Bug spray is encouraged.
The series also attracts local boaters, kayakers and canoes, with the live music setting on the banks of the Sydenham River.
This year’s line-up will feature local talent including The Moondog Howlers, Neil Malcomb Band, The Sterling Blues Band, Dan Knight, Jay Allan, Jacklyn Wills, The Down River Band, The Uku Kings and more.
Opening act slots are yet to be filled.
