Harvey: John Douglas “Doug”, a resident of Dresden and formerly of R.R.#3 Tupperville, passed away peacefully following a short illness on Saturday, April 20, 2019, surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham at the age of 83.
He was born in Chatham Twp., son of the late Albert and Winifred (Harrett) Harvey. Doug had farmed his entire life prior to moving to Dresden, and had retired from Superior Propane in Chatham where he was a delivery driver for many years.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years Vera (Bresett) Harvey and their 4 daughters Cheryl and Dennis Brown of Dresden, Cindy and Andy Demakos of Mississauga, Cathy Tuckwell and her partner Firmin Geneau, and Carolyn Harvey of Kingsville. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and his brother Larry and Esther Harvey of Soldotna, Alaska. Predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Robert (Bob) and Bonnie Harvey.
The Harvey family will receive friends at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden on Wednesday April 24, 2019 from 11:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 PM with Rev. Linda McFadden officiating. A Private family interment will be held following the service in Dresden Cemetery. Donations (by cheque) to the Chatham Kent Health Alliance Foundation (I.C.U.
