Women’s Leadership the focus of networking event

Women from across Chatham-Kent are invited to the first Chatham-Kent Women’s Leadership Network Panel and Networking Night being held May 15, 2019 at the Sons of Kent in Chatham from 7 pm to 9 pm. The event will bring together and empower professional women and entrepreneurs to develop their leadership skills through education, networking, and having some fun.

The evening includes a panel discussion that will look at leadership from a variety of perspectives including business, education, personal and professional development, and community. The panel will be moderated by Jordan Sinclair, PhD, and Data Scientist with Vertias.

“There is so much opportunity for people in Chatham-Kent and it’s my hope that by coming together as women, we can help each other discover ways to build connections that motivate and inspire us to take advantage of those opportunities,” said Sinclair. “I’ve had some great conversations with women who want to do things such as launch coding classes, meet to learn more about work/life balance techniques, or even do fun networking activities such as business speed dating.”

“Holding this open event is really important to me because I see other communities that have strong leadership groups for women and I want to help bring back something that has become quiet over the past few years,” said Katie Vilaranda, Owner of Position One SEO. “There are so many wonderful women that bring so much knowledge to the table that we are hoping this event will be the catalyst for future leadership activities.”

Following the panel discussion, attendees are invited to network, share in the libations, and speak with the panelists. Attendees can also provide their thoughts and suggestions for future events and topics including computer programming, science and technology, and empowering youth.

“Chatham-Kent Economic Development’s very own Rosemarie Montgomery will be on the panel to bring the business development perspective to the group,” said Andrew Tompsett, Marketing and Communications Officer with Chatham-Kent Economic Development. “Rosemarie has been an outstanding leader providing expert insights for both new start-ups and also large established businesses across the region.”
