Festive RIDE season kicks off

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say yesterday was the National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims.

“In support of this day, officers kicked off the Festive RIDE season last night with spot checks in Chatham and Wallaceburg,: police officials said in a press release.

“A total of 550 vehicles were stopped and checked. No infractions were observed. The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists that RIDE spot checks will increase through the holiday season in an effort to keep our roads safe.

Police officials added: “If you believe someone is driving while impaired, please call 911 – you could be saving someone’s life.”

If you are enjoying festive beverages, please plan for a safe ride home, police officials say.

“Use a designated driver, call a cab or stay overnight,” police officials stated.

“Home James is also available by calling 519-351-3353.”
