Shoplifting leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a man trying to steal a set of headphones from Home Hardware on Keil Drive in Chatham.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of March 20, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Real Canadian Superstore, failing to attend court and for his fingerprints.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was released pending a future court date of March 25, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, a man wanted for domestic related assault attended the Wallaceburg station and turned himself in.

The 37-year-old Walpole Island man was released pending a future court date of March 31, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a man on King Street in Chatham who was wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date of March 25, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to the report of a suspicious man inside the lobby of a bank on King Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the man and learned that he was currently wanted for breaching his Probation Order.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date of March 24, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, a man wanted in connection with a residential break and enter in Chatham last month, attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 48-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date of April 1, 2020.

Residential break and enter in Chatham Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Eberts Line, causing about $150 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole a black ‘Asus’ gaming laptop, headphones and cash.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at approximately $3,500.

Motor vehicle collision in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 5 p.m. last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on St. Clair Street near Grand Avenue.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $40,000.

A 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with making a turn not in safety.

Man charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday morning, an observant citizen contacted police regarding a suspicious man wearing a ski mask riding a bicycle near a scrap yard on Queens Line.

Officers attended the area and located the bicycle hidden along the fence line.

Officers followed fresh shoe prints into the scrap yard and located the man still wearing the mask.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter.

He was released pending a future court date of April 7, 2020.

Man charged with driving while impaired by a drug

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4 a.m. on Monday morning, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Park Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer suspected the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.

A roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Test was conducted and the man failed.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

The 30-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving.

He will be released pending a future court date.

Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last month, police responded to a theft complaint at the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the woman responsible for stealing a bottle of Crown Royal valued at $36.

On Sunday night, police located the woman and she was arrested.

A 22-year-old Harwich Township woman was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of April 1, 2020.

Collision leads to breach of probation charge

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 8 p.m. Sunday night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Tundra Road in Dover Township.

Through investigation, police learned that the driver was currently bound by a condition of house arrest.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was charged with breaching his Probation Order and careless driving.

He was released pending a future court date of April 7, 2020.

Total damage was estimated at $1,500.

No one in the vehicle was injured.

Man arrested on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday night, police arrested a man wanted in connection with shoplifting incidents at Sport Chek and No Frills last month.

A 38-year-old man, of no fixed address, was released pending a future court date of March 31, 2020.

Police investigating vehicle fire

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday afternoon, police received information that a shed and vehicle on Welch Line had been destroyed by fire sometime over the weekend.

Through investigation, police learned that inside the burnt shed was a vehicle, believed to be a Lincoln MKX and that it did not belong to the property owner.
