Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

The 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of July 29, 2020.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, police received a traffic complaint regarding a black Ford Explorer travelling westbound on Longwoods Road.

An officer on general patrol located the vehicle in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

He was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 50-year-old Tilbury man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

His driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

He was released pending a future court date of July 24, 2020.

Man charged with assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal argument, the man grabbed a kitchen knife and held it in a threatening manner towards his common-law.

The woman fled the home and called police.

The man left the residence on his bicycle prior to police arrival.

Police located the man and he was arrested.

The 37-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Shoplifting leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, shortly after 6 p.m. the man attended Circle K on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg and stole several items valued at approximately $95.

Officers located the man outside the store and following a short foot chase, he was taken into custody.

The 42-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was also arrested on several outstanding warrants.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last week, police responded to a mischief complaint in the parking lot of an apartment building in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man smashed the window of a family member’s vehicle.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 20-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of July 31, 2020.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday night, shortly after 7:30 p.m. an officer with our Traffic Unit observed a vehicle on Middle Line travelling at a high rate of speed.

The officer recorded the man driving 135km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

The 25-year-old Chatham man was charged with stunt driving.

His driver’s license has been suspended for 7 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on August 12, 2020.
