Bust leads to drug and weapons charges

Three people face drug and weapons charges following a bust on Tuesday in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege on Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a local hotel in Chatham in regards to a suspicious man.

Officers attended the man’s room and located three people along with a significant quantity of illegal drugs and weapons.

The man and two women were arrested while the scene was held pending further investigation.

“Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit re-attended the hotel room and executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant,” police officials allege.

“Approximately $330,000 worth of suspected Fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine was seized. A 9mm handgun, a quantity of ammunition and $15,980 in cash was also seized.”

In total, the trio has been charged with 40 offences, that include possession for the purposes of drug trafficking, weapon related offences and failing to comply with court orders.

A 36-year-old Chatham man, a 34-year-old Chatham woman and a 29-year-old Dresden woman, have all been remanded into custody pending a future court date of May 15, 2020.
