Police: B&E in Wallaceburg, dangerous driving, bike stolen

Break and enter in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police are looking for information regarding a break and enter into a barn on Whitebread Line.

Sometime overnight the suspects entered the barn and removed a 2013 red Polaris Sportsman 800 with a 2-inch trailer hitch that is valued at $5,000.

Man charged with obstruct police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man for obstruct police.

Yesterday morning, police conducted a traffic stop in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the license plates were not registered to the vehicle.

While the officers were attempting to seize the plates, the man became irate and interfered with the officers to the point of obstructing them.

The 37-year-old Leamington man has been charged with obstruct police.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Pair found together and charged

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to an apartment building in Chatham in regards to a trespassing complaint.

Through investigation, police learned that a man was visiting a woman that he was currently bound not to communicate with.

The 57-year-old Chatham man was found hiding in a bedroom and arrested.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

He has been charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of July 24, 2020.

The 45-year-old Chatham woman was also arrested for being a party to a criminal offence.

She was charged and released pending a future court date of August 5, 2020.

Motor vehicle collision leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, shortly after 10:30 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Baldoon Road in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer on scene believed that the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of drugs and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for a drug recognition evaluation test.

A 26-year-old Chatham man has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm as the other driver sustained injuries.

He was released pending a future court date of June 5, 2020.

Total damage of the collision was estimated at $10,000.

Man charged with dangerous driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police observed the man make no attempt to stop at the intersection of Harvey Street and Queen Street in Chatham.

The man continued through another two stop signs despite the officers attempting a traffic stop.

The driver also failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Richmond Street and Lacroix Street.

Police located the vehicle a short time later on Keil Drive and the driver was arrested.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a small glass vial of suspected methamphetamine.

A 48-year-old Raleigh Township man has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of August 6, 2020.

Theft of bike in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, at approximately 6 p.m., the complainant was shopping at Sobeys.

When he exited the store, at about 6:45 p.m. he noticed that his bike was no longer in the bike mount attached to the rear of his vehicle.

The bicycle is described as a blue Giant bike with a battery powered front white light, a rear red light and a shock absorbent seat.

The bike is valued at approximately $500.
