Norton accepts CAO position in Georgian Bluffs

John Norton, Chatham-Kent’s general manager of community development, will be leaving his position effective August 1 to accept a position of chief administrative officer for the Township of Georgian Bluffs, Ontario.

Chatham-Kent CAO Don Shropshire, who made the announcement this morning, praised Norton for his service and congratulated him on his appointment.

“Since joining the municipality in 2011, John has served the community very well, first as our Chief Legal Officer and more recently as the GM of community development where he has played a key role in developing our growth strategy and in supporting the Community Development Advisory Committee chaired by Councillor Aaron Hall,” Shropshire said in a media release.

“We wish him the very best in his new role.”

Norton said he was proud of the work accomplished by his team, most recently in the CK Growth Strategy and business economic recovery during the COVID-19 crisis and helped bring together the Economic Recovery Task Force.

“It is with mixed emotions that I step away from my current position to take up a new challenge and opportunity,” Norton said in a media release.

“I have loved this job. I love this community and I hope it will be said that I contributed something. I am incredibly grateful for the team members who have supported me and helped me find success.”

Don Shropshire will be discussing with Council future staffing plans for the general manager of community development position, Municipal officials say.
