New splash pad opening on Friday in Dresden

The new splash pad in Dresden is set to open this week.

“You heard it right all of your hard work has paid off Dresden and the Dresden Kinsmen Splash Pad will be open this Friday at 9 a.m.” Dresden Kinsmen officials posted on social media.

“Remember to be safe, keep your distance and take turns so we can continue to enjoy this all summer long.”

Dr. David Colby, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, announced on Tuesday that splash pads were among the operations in Chatham-Kent that may resume service as early as Friday, July 17 at 12:01 a.m. with public health measures in place.

This coincides with the Provincial announcement earlier this week that Chatham-Kent is included in Stage 3 of reopening across Ontario.

Dresden Kinsmen officials say they are also finalizing all of the sponsorship pavers, stones and benches as well.

“If you want to have your family or business name at the splash pad please email dresdensplashpad@gmail.com by this Thursday,” Dresden Kinsmen officials say.

The splash pad committee in Dresden announced back on January 24 of this year that they have raised a total of $115,064.28 so far for the project.

The group has held multiple fundraisers since launching the idea back in late 2018.
