DNA helps solve break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter in Chatham earlier this year.

On Jan. 5, 2020, police responded to a break and enter to a business on Richmond Street in Chatham.

The scene was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis.

In March 2020, police received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man.

Last night, the police located the man on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

A 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with break and enter.

He was released from custody pending a future court date.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police located and arrested a woman in Wallaceburg who was wanted for domestic related offences.

A 25-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.

She was released pending a future court date of August 12, 2020.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Ridgetown who was wanted for breaching conditions of his release order.

A 30-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Male arrested for breach of the peace

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon police responded to a suspicious person complaint on Queen Street in Chatham.

The man was jumping in and out of traffic.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the man had recently consumed drugs and was unable to care for himself.

He was arrested for breach of the peace and taken to Chatham-Kent headquarters.

He is set to be released when sober.

Breach of probation arrest leads to weapon charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a suspicious person call on King Street East in Chatham.

Further investigation resulted in an adult female being arrested for breaching a condition of her probation order.

A 27-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with two counts of breach of probation order.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of a prohibited Weapon – a switch blade.

She was additionally charged with that offence and released pending a future court date of August 13, 2020.

Youth breaches probation order

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last evening, police learned that a male youth was breaching his probation order.

The youth was located in Chatham and arrested.

The youth was subsequently charged with three counts of breach of probation and later released with a future court date.

Intoxicated female

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, just after midnight, police located an adult female in the area of Baseline Road in
Wallaceburg.

Through investigation it was determined that the female was intoxicated and not able to care for herself.

The 21-year-old Wallaceburg resident was taken into custody and held until sober.
