Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 10, 2020 a man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to possess or consume any unlawful drugs.

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a man out of control in the area of Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the man walking in and out of traffic and he was taken into custody for his own safety.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The 30-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with drug possession and failing to comply with his Probation Order.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for domestic related offences was arrested by Strathroy-Caradoc Police.

The 55-year-old Mount Brydges man was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Tilbury.

As the woman was moving belongings out of the apartment, the man tried to push the woman down a flight of stairs.

The 44-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released pending a future court date of October 7, 2020.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dover Township.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument between the couple escalated into a physical altercation.

The man also punched a window of the woman’s vehicle, causing it to smash.

The 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft of electronics and jewelry

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. unknown suspects entered a residence on Longwoods Road in Chatham Township and stole a 65” Samsung TV and jewelry.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $900.

Break and enter in Chatham Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Thursday at 5 p.m. and yesterday at 1 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Prince Albert Road and stole:

– 40” LG televisions x2

– HP laptop

– Samsung 24” curved desktop monitor

– Large quantity of alcohol

– Throwing knives

– Jewelry

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $3,800.

MVC’s

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Richmond Street near Queen Street in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $8,000.

The driver at fault was charged with careless driving.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Erie Shore Drive.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

The collision remains under investigation.

Traffic stop leads to drug and weapons charges in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On patrol officers observed some suspicious activity.

The officers initiated a traffic stop on Grand Ave. Chatham.

During the investigation the passenger to the vehicle provided a false name.

Both parties in the car were eventually arrested.

During the arrest and search of the vehicle police found a gun, magazine, ammunition and drugs.

As a result of the the traffic stop the following charges were laid:

– Obstruct police

– Breach of probation X 2

– Breach of prohibition order (firearm) X 2

– Firearms related charges X 5

– Possession of a controlled substance X 3

– Possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both males were kept in custody and held for a bail hearing .

Alcohol leads to arrest in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Police were contacted in the early morning hours on Saturday regarding a male yelling and being combative with other individuals.  

Police attended the area and the male was located and found to be
intoxicated.

He was arrested and brought to Chatham-Kent headquarters and released when sober.
