OPP: Wallaceburg man charged with impersonating an officer

Lambton OPP officials allege: On October 2, 2020, members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on LaSalle Line in St. Clair Township and observed a motor vehicle that appeared to be a police cruiser.

The Lambton OPP member initiated a traffic stop after observing equipment on the vehicle that was similar to police equipment.

Further investigation into the vehicle located the interior of the vehicle was also equipped with more equipment consistent with police cruiser.

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with Impersonating Peace Officer and Failure to Comply with Release Order, pursuant to the Criminal Code.

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on a later date.
