Police: Crash and impaired driving, B&E, theft

Collision leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Prince Albert Road in Chatham.

The male driver had struck a guard rail.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

A 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged accordingly and released with a future court date.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 4 a.m. yesterday morning unknown suspects attended a local business in Blenheim and made entry into storage containers behind the building.

At this time the investigation is on-going.

Theft complaint leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a confrontation on Beechwood Crescent in Chatham.

Officers attended and located two males, one was a tenant of the building and the other had attended the property.

Through investigation, police learned that the man who entered the property was currently bound by conditions.

A 46-year-old man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and possession of a controlled substance.

The accused was held for bail.
