Nina Klompstra of Wallaceburg

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother Meintje ‘Nina’ Klompstra of Wallaceburg and formerly of Sombra at the Oaks Inn in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 97.

Nina is the daughter of the late Bonne & Greitje Van Der Kooi.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Jacob in 2007. Loving mother of Douwe (Barb), Bob (Kathy), Tom (Lyn), Richard (Nancy), Charlie (Kim), Ben (Leslie), Dennis, Evie (Tom) and the late Bonne (Gayle & Alan) and George.

Dear grandmother of 23, great grandmother of 43 and great great grandmother of 4 grandchildren.

Nina was an amazing and exceptional woman filled with love and faith in her family and God.

Although her life was not easy, growing up in the Netherlands through the great depression and World War II, she managed to make her way to Canada (which she loves) to raise her 10 children.

She was ‘The Hub’ of the family, never afraid to speak her mind or tell you what she thought.

Her pride in her family was as great as her love of chocolate!

If you needed something crocheted or a bowl of hot soup, she was the one to go to.

She would always make you smile or laugh with her incredible but dry sense of humour.

Her love of children and animals cannot be matched.

Always gracious and thankful, she would never complain.

Her legacy of love will be forever in our hearts!

The Klompstra family would like to thank The Oaks Retirement Village for the 6 years of LOVE and exceptional care for our Mother.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral will be held at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg with the interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Sombra.

If desired, remembrances to the Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231.

Online tributes may be left at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca.
