Stabbing on Walpole Island sends three to hospital

Lambton OPP officials allege: On January 1, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stabbing on Austin Road, Walpole Island First Nation.

Initial investigation revealed that two parties attended an address on Austin Road when a fight ensued, resulting in three parties being struck by a knife.

All three victims were transported to the local hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and sought shelter at a neighbouring residence.

One party entered into the residence and discharged a firearm.

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

At this time, it is believed to be an isolated event and there is no threat to public safety.

As a result of the investigation, a 16-year-old of Chatham was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon (three counts) and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking, pursuant to the Criminal Code.

The accused was released and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia at a later date.
