Tax education event being held virtually

As tax time quickly approaches, the Chatham-Kent Small Business Centre is helping new and existing businesses be prepared thanks to an upcoming webinar titled CRA Small Business Tax Advice and Information.

The free virtual event is being held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 7 p.m. and will run for two hours.

“This is a great opportunity to hear from a Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) expert on important topics such as how to manage your books and stay in compliance with tax rules,” stated Taylor Hughes, Economic Development Officer with the Small Business Centre, in a media release.

“The presentation will have a focus on sole proprietor small businesses, but the advice is good for anyone looking at starting, running, or growing their business.”

Attendees will learn tips and tricks to help make it easier to manage their business taxes as well as hear about common tax errors and how to avoid them.

“We are going to cover the basics including general bookkeeping concepts and best practices, as well as more advanced concepts such as how to use financial benchmarks for relevant industries,” added Hughes.

“No matter if you’re a start-up or have been running a business for years, there is something for every level of business at the session.”

Along with time dedicated to ask questions, the session includes information about services offered by the CRA.

“We have packed a lot of information into the two-hour session, but we have made sure to specifically set aside time for people’s questions as this is often a big part of these events,” said Hughes.

“Our expert is usually asked a few things that involves a little myth busting, which is great because it helps entrepreneurs feel a lot better when approaching their taxes.”
