Woman charged with trespassing

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 6 p.m. police responded to the report of an intoxicated woman who was no longer welcomed at a residence in Tilbury.

The woman was asked to leave by the homeowner and police several times.

When the woman failed to comply, she was arrested for trespassing.

The 44-year-old Tilbury woman was charged with failing to leave when directed and released this morning when sober.

Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 7 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of a suspicious man walking in and out of traffic on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

The man was taken into custody for breach of the peace and escorted off the roadway by police.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 32-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of April 1, 2021.

Shoplifting leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man attended Walmart and stole over $150 worth of items, even though he was currently bound by conditions not to attend this store.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of stolen property from Dollarama.

The 29-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with failing to comply with his probation order, two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He remains in police custody this morning.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle on Harvey Street in Chatham that was running with the driver passed out behind the wheel.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation.

As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving and drug possession.

He was released with a future court date of March 25, 2021.
