Active COVID-19 case count increases to 71 in Chatham-Kent

The active COVID-19 case count increased by 10 over the weekend and now sits at 71 across Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Monday, March 15, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by 21 and sits at 1,438 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say two people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.

Public health officials announced 11 new recoveries, increasing the total at 1,358.

Three institutional outbreaks remains active across Chatham-Kent: at Copper Terrace in Chatham and in the Dialysis and the Lab Services units of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham.

48 of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are are linked to close contact, 12 cases have information pending, seven are unknown, three cases are linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent and one case is linked to workplace outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent.

Since the pandemic began in March, nine people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 88,854 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Public health officials say 13,766 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to date.

Dr. Colby announced last week  that the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is tops in Canada, when it comes to administering the COVID-19 vaccine to the highest proportion of their population. More details, here.

Beginning on Monday, March 1, 2021, Chatham-Kent moved into the ‘Orange-Restrict’ tier of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open framework.

Provincial officials announced on Friday, March 12, 2021 that Chatham-Kent would remain in the ‘Orange-Restrict’ tier.
