Winter weather travel advisory issued across Chatham-Kent

Environment Canada officials say a winter weather travel advisory is in effect for tonight and early Wednesday morning.

Forecasters say some hazards include: snowfall amounts of four to eight centimeters, slippery road conditions and reduced visibility in falling snow.

The timing is this evening, April 20, 2021, through early Wednesday morning

“Snow has moved into the region and may continue into early Wednesday morning,” Environment Canada officials say.

“Snowfall amounts of four to eight centimeters are possible. The Wednesday morning commute may be impacted. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”

Environment Canada officials added: “This winter weather travel advisory is due to a low pressure system that is forecast to track south of the region tonight and Wednesday. Due to the uncertain track of the weather system and the warm ground temperatures, total snowfall amounts expected could change. Please continue to monitor the forecasts for future updates.”

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada, forecasters say.
