Attempted murder charges laid after a stabbing in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Monday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance outside an apartment building on Riverview Drive in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument between two women, known to each other, escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in one of the women being stabbed.

The victim, a 30-year-old Chatham woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with serious injuries.

The woman responsible fled the scene prior to police arrival.

On Monday night, police located the woman in Ridgetown and she was arrested.

The 28-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with attempted murder and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
