Police: $36,000 worth of cocaine seized, assault, MVC, speeding

Police execute search warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a Chatham man’s residence and vehicle.

Approximately $36,000 worth of suspected cocaine along with two cell phones, digital scales and large amount of Canadian cash was seized.

A 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and failing to comply with his release conditions by being in possession of illicit drugs.

He was released pending a future court date of May 20, 2021.

Man charged with assault causing bodily harm

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a man in the residence was wanted in connection with a domestic related incident last month.

The 26-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, members of Community Patrol conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road and Bloomfield Road in Chatham.

A total of 12 motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Queens Line near Dillon Road.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $60,000.

The driver at fault was charged with careless driving.
