Active COVID-19 case count at 35 in Chatham-Kent

The active case count has increased by three and sits at 35 across Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by six and sits at 1,841 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say nine people are hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent, one less than on Monday.

Public health officials announced that three more cases have been resolved, increasing the total at 1,793.

An institutional outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s medicine unit, which involves seven cases, remains active, along with one un-named workplace outbreak.

17 of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are linked to close contact, seven cases are unknown, four cases are linked to the institutional outbreak at the hospital, two cases have information pending, two cases are linked to workplace outbreaks, two cases are linked to travel and one case is linked to outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent

CK Public Health officials say a total of 214 Chatham-Kent residents have had COVID-19 with a variant of concern or related mutation.

Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 13 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 108,670 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Public health officials say 41,591 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, while 39,891 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Chatham-Kent.

The Province has extended the ‘stay-at-home’ order for all of Ontario until at least June 2, 2021.
