Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit attended, after a report of a suspicious package outside of the Judy Lamarsh Building in Chatham on Monday, June 7, 2021.
Police officials said on social media the OPP assessed and “removed the suspicious package.”
Police say Wellington Street, between William and Adelaide was closed for a time, but it now open.
Police say those in the immediate area were evacuated.
“The incident remains under investigation,” police officials tweeted.
