Traffic stop in Chatham leads to drug and weapon charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 45-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Park Street.

Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted the stop on April 24, 2026, at approximately 2:56 p.m., where the driver was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

Through further investigation, officers determined the individual was also in possession of controlled substances and a prohibited weapon.

The accused has been charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, one count of breach of recognizance, one count of failure to comply with a probation order, one count of possession of fentanyl and one count of possession of crack cocaine.

Police transported the accused to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where he was later released with a future court date of June 16, 2026.
